Maximal load: AL MURAYKH cut the record of container number on board

The container carrier Al Muraykh, owned by United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) established a world record – it sailed with 18.601 TEU on board. Maximum capacity of Al Muraykh is19.000 TEU - it is classified as ultra-large container vessel (ULCV).

Al Muraykh departed from the Port Klang, Malaysia and headed to Felixstowe, UK, along the Asia-European container line AEC1. The passage will last two weeks. The containers were loaded on board by UASC and its partners in Ocean Three alliance, which, except the Arab company, includes the French CMA CGM and China China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL).

Al Muraykh was floated out in August 2015, it was built by the company Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries. The vessel is not only one of the biggest container carriers in the world, but also one of the three most environmentally friendly - all of them are owned by UASC. During this voyage, the carbon dioxide emission in the atmosphere will be 60% less than if the same containers would be carried on standard container vessels having the capacity of 13.500 TEU.
